How do I choose a good Sydney wedding photographer?

Look through websites and blogs for wedding images you like. Be sure to view images of the same wedding to get a feel for how the photographer documents a wedding. Create a shortlist of wedding photographers and meet with them. You’ll want a photographer who makes you feel at ease so you can enjoy your wedding photo shoot. Often it is ideal to have a pre-wedding or engagement shoot to give you a feel for how your Sydney wedding photography will go.

How long should I hire my Sydney wedding photographer for?

Some Sydney wedding photographers charge by the hour, others have packages for a specified number of hours, some offer full day coverage. How much of your day do you wish captured? Couple getting ready at one or multiple locations? Ceremony is a must. Photoshoot afterwards? Reception arrival, but also including speeches? Cake cutting? First dance? Couple leaving?

How much does Sydney wedding photography cost?

The cost for your Sydney wedding photography will vary according to number of hours, creativity and experience of the photographer, amount and style of image editing, the delivery of an on-line or printed album, the delivery of printed images / canvas and other services that wedding photographers can offer – including 2nd shooter, travel, video or drone coverage. Some photographers charge by the hour, others have packages which can be altered to suit your budget and needs. Some photographers have short packages from $500. Most couples spend between $3000-$4000.

Do I need a wedding album?

Some couples skip the wedding album and just receive their images on USB. This is great for those with smaller budgets, but keep in mind that digital data can corrupt and you wouldn’t want your wedding photos to be accidentally deleted! A wedding album is a great way to show family and friends the highlights of your day.

Do I need my images re-touched?

Most couples prefer to have ‘natural’ images from their wedding day. Some photographers deliver images as taken. Other wedding photographers apply filters and other creative digital touches to achieve their photographic style which might still appear natural to most people. Be sure to discuss digital editing and other creative enhancements with short-listed photographers and determine if you would like re-touching and if it is a part of their package or extra cost.
